Responsibilities of P.T.O.

Responsibilities of P.T.O. Under Driver Agreement:

Provide reliable, competant, qualified and experienced driver personnel on a contract labor basis.

  • Furnish replacement drivers for regular drivers while off due to illness, vacation or injury. Provide extra drivers for load fluctuations.
  • Qualify all personnel under D.O.T. rules and regulations:

    • Maintain personnel files in accordance with D.O.T. regulations.
    • Review all drivers periodically for updated D.O.T. certification.
    • Furnish D.O.T. qualified medical examinations, including Drug testing
  • Handle union contract negotiations, if required.
  • Negotiate riders to union contracts as needed, to conform with company plans, schedules, plant union agreements and operational objectives.
  • Become signatory to necessary union contracts.
  • Discipline drivers including their replacements, as necessary.
  • Process grievance claims with the employee and the union
  • Provide a complete payroll service.

    • Furnish Workers Compensation and General Liability Insurance.
    • Payment of all State and Federal payroll taxes.
    • Payments to Health and Welfare and Pension Funds.
    • Remittance of Union Dues.
  • Provide advice and councel concerning union matters, Department of Transportation and Interstate Commerce Commision rules and regulations.
  • Establish Safety Programs to control accidents, both vehicular and personal.
  • Furnish advice and counsel as needed or requested covering:
    • Equipment selection
    • Incentive Programs
    • Maintenance Programs
    • Dispatching
    • General Transportation Question
